After the Safe Use Of Pesticides Course trainees then go onto another days training in their particular field of interest.
USE OF FIELD CROP SPRAYER (PA2) - 11th January 2011 USE OF KNAPSACK SPRAYER (PA6) - 12th January 2011 USE OF GRANULE APPLICATOR (PA4) - USE OF ROLLER BED SPRAYER (PA12) USE OF FOGGING, MISTING & SMOKES (PA9) £75 + VAT courses include:
- The requirements in detail of current legislation
- Applying pesticides safely and efficiently
- Identifying and selecting appropriate nozzles or restrictors
- Preparing and calibrating the equipment
- Operating the equipment in compliance with current legislation and codes of practice
- Cleaning equipment
- Disposing of unwanted pesticides and containers
- Identifying and rectifying faults
- Recognising conditions when spraying is inadvisable

VERMIN CONTROL COURSES
MOLE & RABBIT CONTROL RAT & MICE CONTROL £90 + VAT These courses have recently been updated to meet Health & Safety Regulations. These courses are designed to help trainees plan & carry out vermin control. they are intended to give trainees a full working knowledge of both preventative and curative methods so that they can plan, implement and monitor a control programme appropriate to their situation.
FACTS TRAINING & EXAMINATION
As one of a growing number of FACTS qualified Advisors, you will:
- Be able to diagnose and solve crop nutrition problems in crops
- Understand how to calculate the fertiliser requirements of crops
- Maximise profitability by avoiding unnecessary or excessive usage of fertiliser, and by maximising crop quality yield
- Be able to assess the quality and value of fertiliser and liming materials
- Know your legal obligations in relation to storage, handling and application of fertiliser and manures
- How to make best use of organic manures
- Be able to choose the right fertiliser materials for each situation
- Understand NVZ's and NSA's
- Have a nationally recognised certificate which demonstrates your competence in crop nutrition decisions and advice.
CPM (Crop Protection Management)
This course will help anyone involved in crop production decision making to:
- Be aware of different pest control techniques and integrated crop management
- Understand how pesticides are regulated
- Understand how pesticides work
- Recognise the effects of different application techniques
- Be more capable of assessing risks when using pesticides
- Be able to set realistic thresholds
- Know where to get more information
- Be able to identify further training needs.
ICM (Integrated Crop Management)
This course will enable delegates to understand the concept of Integrated Crop Management, embracing a whole farm approach and including:
- The use of crop rotations
- The choice of appropriate cultivation techniques
- Careful selection of seed varieties
- Optimising the use of inputs such as fertiliser, pesticides and fossil fuels The maintenance & enhancement of landscapes and wildlife feature
